While the name Flaco might not immediately ring a bell, his tune should!
The likes of Fabio, Marky, LTJ Bukem, have not only ignited dance floors
with Flaco’s tune’s, they have signed them to their labels.

June 18th – July 21st | 7:00pm – 11:00pm
Opening Saturday, June 18th, Hold Up Art present “Pressed” an exhibition exploring the world of silkscreen processed art. Though invented in 1907 and later made famous in the contemporary art world through Andy Warhol’s iconic reproductions, Silkscreen art has taken a firm grasp on our contemporary visual culture for its relatively cheap process yet ability to deliver bold, clean and consistent reproductions. Everyday the average person interacts with dozens of silkscreened images, from t-shirts, to stickers, to street signs. Though the process itself has changed very little over the past century, stylistic conventions pertaining to the medium of silkscreen as seen in contemporary art have come a long way.
In recent years the development of Print houses have become not only popular outlets for artists, but a helping hand to the Advertising and Poster industries. A prominent player in the So-Cal Screen printing scene is Something Ill Studios, run by Michael Ficek, Something Ill represents some of the most prolific Screen Printing artists today like David Flores and Arkiv. “Pressed” will highlight specific modes of style that have become popular since the era of Pop Art in the 60’s, stemming from various sources like Photography, Illustration, and Digital Media.
Contributing Artists: Michael Ficek , Arkiv , Lucky Bunny , Nick McPherson, Justin Atallian, Cyrcle, Tony Hong. For the money conscious art buyer, “Pressed” will offer limited edition mini print series for all contributing artists. There will also be live silkscreen printing during the opening of the event on tee’s and anything you want to bring in. For further information please contact ben@holdupart.com, or call in to the gallery at 213.221.4585.
